Last Call on the Haitian Relief Drum

According to a Facebook announcement the Haitian Relief Drum will be leaving the store soon. There is no word on the exact time the benefit will end. It seems odd to me that there would be no listed time frame. If it ends at midnight pst (zynga time) then we have about 4 1/2 hours before it is gone, not much notice. If the drum is coming down at a later date then why wouldn’t they say something?

I have a sneaking suspicion that this item might be replaced with something….Bangkok perhaps? Of course this is just a guess, but all things seem to be leading towards Bangkok.

Bangkok Forum up, but hidden

Using the recent posts tools on the forums myself and other forum users have found that the Bangkok forums have been created today, though they are currently hidden. Here are the contents of the current posts:

This is an obvious precursor to the upcoming Bangkok launch, which by the sounds of these posts make it seem just on the horizon. While a weekend launch seems ideal, I would expect launch to occur sometime this week based on these posts.

Farmville and Mafia Wars collide, Hod Rod Tractor avaliable at a price

I had been talking about a Farmville item that was rumored to require Mafia Wars participation and this is it:

Farmville users will need to get to level 10 in Mafia Wars in order to have the option to purchase the tractor, which costs an estimated 45,000 gold and plows a 3×3 grid compared to the current 2×2. As usual, only some people have the option to get this item until the testing phase is complete

As I had stated in my previous article, this is advertising gold. There is not a single game in facebook that has as many daily users as Farmville, at 27,000,000 users. It couldn’t hurt to expose an audience that big to one of Zynga’s other games and I can bet that if it is as successful as I think it will be then we will see more of these cross-genre offers.

New Farmville items require a Mafia Wars account…ROFL

Apparently there is a juicy little rumor going around on Farmvillefreak.com that there is going to be a new tractor available. The catch is that you need to be a level 10 in Mafia Wars in order to get this tractor without paying real money. Read the article here: FarmvilleFreak

I consider this “rumor” to be fact. The site has had numerous “rumors” over the past month with pictures of the items weeks before they were even released. Someone over there is either really good at data mining or they have some sort of inside information.

This is obviously a stroke of pure genius. The people playing Farmville are collectors and completists, of course they’ll make an account. The 27 million active users (at least those who don’t already have MW accounts) will gladly play for 10 levels to get their beloved tractor without shelling out cold hard cash. Heck, maybe even a few million will find they like the game and keep playing.

Whats next, growing marijuana on the farm to sell on our MW account? Hahahaha….
